MCGREGOR, Texas (October 26, 2015) —  Care Net Pregnancy Center of Central Texas has been named a Charity Champion by The First National Bank Your Bank for Life (TFNB). Care Net was honored during the Iowa State vs. Baylor football game Saturday, October 24, 2015.

The primary services provided by Care Net are pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, counseling, case management, parenting and life-skills classes, baby/maternity supplies, and housing during and after pregnancy.

Care Net services are free of charge, thanks to donations from the community. Additionally, Care Net is seeking donations for a technology upgrade. Specifically, the nonprofit needs 24 Apple iMac desktop computers, 21 Apple iPads and two Apple servers. The much-needed Apple products will allow for minimal down time, virus protection, uninterrupted time to serve clients and connectivity between Care Net’s facilities.

“Care Net is now a paperless organization,” said Deborah McGregor, Care Net’s CEO. “By eliminating paper in our two pregnancy centers, Care Net can now locate and disseminate private client and donor information more efficiently. The downside is that the two servers are both at 90 percent capacity.”

McGregor submitted the Charity Champion nomination. When asked why Care Net should be selected, she wrote:

Care Net serves over 3,000 women a year, of all ages, races and of all socio-economic backgrounds. Typically, a woman seeking our services is afraid she’s pregnant, and does not (or fears she may not) have the support she needs to make a rational decision given the crisis she is in. We work to de-escalate her anxiety, and educate her on medically factual information so she can make an informed decision for her and her baby’s future.

“We want people in our community to know what Care Net offers women who are in crisis pregnancies,” said David Littlewood, president of TFNB. “Care Net is most deserving of being named a Charity Champion.”
