MCGREGOR, TX. (March 28, 2017) — Central Texas charities are scoring big as TFNB Your Bank for Life steps up its game in 2016 by introducing its Charity Champions to Baylor basketball fans attending home games at Ferrell Center in Waco. This spring thousands of Baylor Bear basketball fans were treated to a special halftime video presentation and an on-court introduction of the six nonprofit agencies who were nominated by Central Texans and selected by bank employees in 2016 as part of the marketing and leadership campaign sponsored by TFNB.

“We’re huge supporters of Baylor,” said David Littlewood, TFNB president. “We’ve had so much success with our Charity Champion presentations at Baylor football games that we thought it would be beneficial to the nonprofits to get a chance to share their stories with Baylor basketball fans.”

For the past three years, TFNB Charity Champions have been presented on the field at Baylor University home football games, while a video presentation about the nonprofit played on McLane Stadium’s massive video board. In an effort to build more awareness of the winning nonprofit agencies, TFNB introduced Charity Champions at Baylor basketball games. The extra boost in community awareness is beneficial.

“We were thrilled to be introduced at the game and honor our veterans along with the Baylor team and fans, said DeLisa Russell, director of the Veterans One Stop. “We appreciate the support received from TFNB, Baylor and our community.”

“It afforded me an additional opportunity with a different audience to get our message out,” said Jill McCall, executive director of Compassion Ministries. “Plus it was just plain fun!”

“Being presented as a Charity Champion at the Baylor football game and the men’s basketball game was so exciting and gave us a platform for over 45,000 people to hear about our life-saving mission,” said Betsy Robinson, founder of Fuzzy Friends Rescue.   We are grateful for the tremendous opportunity to take our message not only to our Waco community, but to many people statewide and beyond.”

The primary mission of Charity Champions is to elevate Central Texas nonprofits through community awareness and leadership training that creates sustainability for the future.

In addition to publicity at Baylor football and basketball games, Charity Champions receive marketing exposure through TFNB digital marketing, radio and print advertising, and Baylor Athletics’ social media. Additionally, the winners are given a series of half-day training sessions by 360 Solutions, which helps organizations devise intelligent plans to meet strategic goals. Topics presented during workshops include personal leadership, team leadership, emotional intelligence, and the trust factor.

Nominations for 2017 TFNB Charity Champions are currently underway. To nominate your favorite nonprofit organization from Bell, Coryell or McLennan Counties, fill out the form on the Charity Champions Website.
