TFNB Your Bank for Life recently partnered with Creative Waco to support arts-based entrepreneurs through the Greenhouse Program. The six-month incubator provides training, coaching, mentoring, and funding for local artists.

“The program gives artists the tools they need to effectively run a business,” said TFNB Senior Vice President Jason Lavender. “It’s natural to have a financial institution support that, and we’re very happy to be a part of it.”

Artists completed grant applications and extensive multi-week financial education training ahead of the final “Pitch Night.” There they presented their projects to a team of entrepreneurship experts who evaluated their work. The top six got up to $3,000 in grant money from TFNB to help start their business.

Besides funding, TFNB helped Creative Waco put together financial literacy and business development courses. The bank’s contribution also gave participants one-on-one consultations with marketing and web development specialists.

“When you learn to be a musician, painter, sculptor, or an actor, you don’t always learn the business skills that go along with that,” said Fiona Bond, Executive Director of Creative Waco. “It’s really important if we’re cultivating an arts-friendly environment to be good at cultivating those types of businesses.”

TFNB plans to continue supporting Creative Waco’s vision to support artist and arts-based business in Central Texas.

“The bank has been a wonderful partner,” said Bond. “They got it. They understood the gap that exists for creative businesses and were willing to come along beside us and get us to that next stage.”
